Instructor Profile

2023 Instructor lineup
Virginia Lacefield

Virginia has enjoyed climbing on things her entire life. Trees, rocks, ropes, jungle gyms, scaffolding, and anything else she could wrap her hands around. She discovered aerial circus arts in 2015 and it was love at first climb! Although her favorite apparatus is lyra (aerial hoop), Virginia also plays and performs on silks, sling, rope, and pole with Sora Aerial Arts in Lexington, KY. She loves sharing her passion for aerial arts with people of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels and is excited to be attending her seventh PlayThink this year!

Duo Aerial Hoop (co-taught with Taylor Dale)
Double your aerial fun with a partner in the air! In this class, we will teach a selection of aerial hoop partner poses and skills that will enable students to create beautiful shapes and perform dynamic transitions under, inside, and above the hoop. Spinning skills will be taught, but spinning is not required. Come with a partner, or we’ll pair you up with someone! Students should have intermediate level experience in aerial arts, partner acro, or other similar gymnastic/acrobatic skills. Comfort with inversions and knee hangs is recommended.
Other Aerial Arts Classes
Will coordinate additional class offerings with aerial instructor group (Cindy Law, Terri Kendall, Jenn Whittier, Rebecca Hellemans, Sandi Tyrie, Taylor Dale, and me). We plan to offer a variety of beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes during the festival, including instruction in silks, sling, aerial hoop/lyra, trapeze, and rope.
