Lindsay Ellis

Lindsay is a lover! A lover of all things movement, dance, and plants! Lover of nature and geology! Lover of color and art! Lover of kids, home school, and human development! She is a kind and gentle soul who loves to laugh and be in community. She is specifically interested in habitual movement patterns and how we can use choreographic elements to make daily gestures and patterns more playful and beneficial to our bodies and brains.
When it comes to plants and nature, she is keen on native plants and animals of the region. She believes recognizing the native landscape bonds us to our spaces, additionally fostering an aliveness within oneself and a intimate awareness of our relationship to the natural world. She has an Associates in Dance and also facilitates ecstatic dance in her town. She is also active in her kids home school education with Red Oaks Forest School and Kentucky State University Nature Explorers program.

Native Landscape Walk and Play
Let’s get to know the land at Barren River Magic! We will meet at the peacock sculpture and walk to the shallow creek just beyond the sculpture (if this creek is dried up we will meet at the gazebo and head down to the river). The goal for this nature walk is to create space for play, exploration, wonder and awe, as well as awakening our interconnectedness with the land and water. I will guide this walk by naturally noticing, naming, and discussing many of the plants and animals that cross our path. We will identify some native, invasive, edible and poisonous plants. There will be plenty of time for building friendships, fostering curiosity and exploration, while also promoting physical and mental health for both the kids and caretakers. *Bring a journal if you like to take notes or add to a nature journal.
