Katie Phillips

Katie is a Yoga Teacher / Practitioner, and Flow Artist from Appalachia, near the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. For her, Yoga Asana is a graceful dance performed somewhere in between absolute control and complete surrender, and she believes that it’s a delicate balance and a Spiritual endeavour to exist between the two. Yoga practice is a balancing and bringing together of opposing energies, it is Union: To hold space while also being held, pushing and yielding, wielding confidence and humility, simultaneously. It is her passion and purpose to be of service to others in discovering and strengthening the connection between their body, mind, and Spirit. Katie believes that we all possess the innate power within to heal ourselves once this connection is established – to lead more balanced, loving, and compassionate lives. She teaches in the hopes of assisting others along their path toward their own healing, toward Peace, toward balance, and ultimately toward the realization and remembrance of their own inherent Divinity.

Yin : Settling into Stillness
Yin is the practice of settling into stillness. In this workshop we will hold gentle postures for 3-7 minutes at a time, focusing on the inner experience. This practice is a meditation and accessible to every level of practitioner. Yin is a restorative practice that assists in recovery, a work-in more than a work-out. By holding the postures for prolonged periods we stimulate our parasympathetic nervous system, promoting greater flexibility, strength, and peace of mind. This is the Zen side of yoga Asana.
