Jen Donovan and Mike Welch

Mike’s Bio
Mike Welch is a personal trainer, Acrofit certified instructor, and Neuromeditation level 2 certified instructor with an AAS in Exercise Science. His comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, integrative movement and energetic practices provide the spiritual and physical underpinnings of our work.
Mike shifted his career into the world of fitness after he was laid off from his high stress job in the tech industry. He pursued exercise and lifestyle changes as a remedy to his mental health challenges including PTSD, depression and anxiety. Mike found some aspects of the fitness world lacking in it’s understanding of the nervous system and subtle bodies, and began exploring meditation and spiritual practices. He has been trained as a Neuro Meditation Instructor Level 2 through the Neuro Meditation Institute.

Embodied Nervous System Reset: Uplift and Renew
Soothe Wellness brings you a proprietary, dynamic workshop in which we use both modern neuroscience and traditional tools in a holistic framework carefully designed to reset your nervous system. Our Embodied Nervous System Resets are immersive, interactive protocols that will gently stimulate your nervous system in order to cultivate a positive, confident, and uplifted experience in your body. This is a somatic, sensory based experience where sound, visualization, body awareness exploration, vocalizations, and simple movement practices are combined, ensuring you will leave with a refreshed and renewed nervous system.
Trauma Release and Deep Somatic Exploration
Join us for this deep dive into somatic awareness and spontaneous trauma release. We will be exploring multiple methods of natural release, including gentle exercises, TRE (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises, AKA as “the shaking cure”), visualization techniques, and intuitive movement. The traumas of our life are stored deep in the fascia of the body. This incredible sensory organ houses our nervous system, and contracts in patterns of tension any time it detects a threat in our environment. Without proper care and attention to release, these tension patterns remain, communicating to our primal brain that we are in a continual state of stress. This workshop will give you a wide range of tools to help you bring your body back into a state of balance and regulation. Appropriate for all ability levels.
Brain States for Healing
The cognitive patterns of your daily experiences, thoughts, feelings and beliefs dictate your “brain state”. The brain state you cultivate can either allow you to be receptive or blocked when it comes to benefiting from healing practices. If you feel “stuck” in your healing process, whether you are working through a therapeutic nutritional protocol, body work, medical treatment, mental health counseling, or any other healing practice, this workshop is for you! Learn the key factors that will allow your healing practices to be “accepted” by your brain and body. Topics discussed in this workshop include an orientation to understanding the nervous system from a holistic perspective, an introduction to shifting your somatic experience, and “brain retraining” practices you can learn and use daily in your life to optimize your healing potential.
Neuromeditation: Mindfulness for PTSD
NeuroMeditation was founded by Dr. Jeff Tarrant of the NeuroMeditation Institute in Eugene, Oregon. Dr Tarrant has been studying meditation and the brains of people who meditate for 2 decades using EEG. EEGs stands for Electroencephologram and measures electrical activity in your brain using small electrodes which are placed on the surface of the skin. NeuroMeditation techniques are designed to give you tools and a scientifically based structure to achieve your needs and goals, even if you’ve struggled with meditation in the past. NeuroMeditation enables us to determine the styles of meditation that are most useful for specific “neurotypes”. Mindfulness, when used in a trauma informed framework, has been identified as a powerful tool for improving symptoms of PTSD. In this workshop you will learn the basic neuroscience of trauma related conditions such as PTSD, why we get “triggered” and “stuck” in trauma, and how mindfulness can be used as a tool to break this pattern and promote neuroplasticity. Your brain can heal from trauma with the right tools and approach. The practical portion of this workshop will guide you through a short mindfulness meditation to illustrate the power of this method!
